Reach the Correct Office
For county custody and booking questions, contact the Etowah County Sheriff's Office at 827 Forrest Avenue, Gadsden, AL 35901. Its main and non-emergency line is 256-546-2825. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Etowah County Detention Center Booking Unit handles information about people in custody at 256-549-5408 or booking@etowahcounty.org. Call 911 for an emergency. The routes below help separate a jail question from a court, state-prison, or federal-custody question.
- To find an Etowah County booking photo or request a booking record, use the home page's official-source guide, then contact the Booking Unit when the online record is missing or disputed.
- To check a wanted notice or ask about a possible warrant, follow the Most Wanted Fugitives guidance and contact ECSO, the issuing court, or an attorney.
- To see who was booked during a recent interval, use Etowah JAIL View. For current custody, use the ECSO current-inmate roster.
- To check a very recent release, use the separately labeled ECSO 48 Hour Release list. ECSO website alerts announce new site items, but they do not promise notice of each booking or release.
- For a Gadsden, Rainbow City, or Southside incident report, contact the arresting police agency. Ask ECSO separately for a county intake photograph.
- For a person in Alabama state correctional custody, use the Alabama Department of Corrections Inmate Search or its public-records process.
- For federal or immigration custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator or the ICE Online Detainee Locator System. Neither is an Etowah County jail roster.
